Shopping in Santa Clarita

There are a variety of different shopping opportunities in Santa Clarita.  This includes everything from quaint boutiques and shops with unique offerings as well as a wide range of retailers to be had at Westfield Town Center.  The Valencia Town Center is a two-level regional shopping center that features distinctive retailers and is well-known throughout the area as the place to shop. Located about 3 miles from the Hampton Inn Santa Clarita hotel, the Center is easily accessible via Interstate 5 and Valencia Boulevard.  The Valencia Town Center Mall is home to almost 300 stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. For your shopping pleasure there is just about every type of store from national name brands to local stores, including Ann Taylor, Talbot's, Chico's, Nine West, B On Main, Touch of Class and many more. An Edward’s Grand Palace Stadium Theatre is located on the mall circle and inside the mall are play areas and a carousel. The food court boasts nearly two dozen quick service dining options and the complex is also home to 14 full service restaurants.  In January of 2008 the Westfield Town Center broke ground on its new expansion project that will create the premier shopping destination in north Los Angeles County.  The expansion will add 234,500 square-feet for 40 world-class retailers and will transform the current facility to an open-air center featuring lush landscaping, breathtaking water features, a community fireplace and elegant patios.

For a different and unique type of shopping experience try the open air market at the Saugus Speedway.  The Saugus Swap Meet, Santa Clarita’s Open Air Market is one of the largest and oldest open air markets in Southern California.  For more than forty years this market has been open every Sunday, rain or shine.  Conveniently located in the heart of the Santa Clarita Valley, just 3 ½ miles east of Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia Blvd. exit from the I-5 Fwy or 5 miles west of the 14 Fwy, Sand Cyn. exit!  Sunday’s marketplace attracts over 15,000 people every Sunday with more than 600 vendors displaying their merchandise.  Live entertainment, BBQ food, and fresh baked snacks make this a full day’s shopping adventure.  Hours of operation are 7am-3pm and shopper admission is just $1.50.  Parking is always free and located on either side of the Marketplace.

Santa Clarita is also home to two open air Farmers Markets.  Farmers' Market is where consumers can purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, honey, cut flowers and potted plants directly from a California farmer.  It is an opportunity for families to meet and shop and actually get to talk to the people who grow their food.  Consumers get to choose from many different farm stands and many different crop varieties and decide for themselves which farmer sells the tastiest tomato or peach. The consumer has a choice to compare quality and prices and can feel confident that their food is coming from a safe and secure local agricultural operation.  You can find a Certified Farmers Market (CFM) held every Sunday in parking lot 8 at the Valencia campus of the College of the Canyons, and in the Spring and summer months in Old Town Newhall at the Old Town Newhall Farmers Market on Thursday evenings from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
